Daniel Marekoff

Born during the disco wave at New Year's Eve of 1978, Daniel Penkov directly enters into the sphere of electronic avant-garde. At the age of 15 he starts to play music at some student parties in his hometown Svishtov under the name Danny Boy. One suitcase of cassettes and an audio system are his first tools. Until the mid 90's he is influenced by the rave culture (Prodigy, WestBam, Marusha ...) and then deepens into Detroit Techno and IDM. Initiator of a large number of techno parties, he is the one who has popularized this music in the region. In 1998, his creative ideas are fulfilled in the first techno club in Svishtov - Monochrome, where he begins his professional career. His performance at the 2000’s DJ contest “Bobby I” brings the audience to fever pitch, and is promptly followed by an invitation of Yalta Club, Sofia. He then lives temporarily in Italy, where he gets the opportunity to enrich his musical collection. Back in his hometown in 2004, he co-organises the first Street Parade, which gathers more than a thousand people. Involved in the organisation of electronic music events’, Silent Disco (Plovdiv and Sofia) and SeeMe 4 (South-East European Music Event), he plays at the SeeMe’s awards 2009 in Yalta Club. At the end of the same year, he is invited at the 7th Apero Elektro, a series initiated by the French Institute (Sofia). Playing under the new name Daniel Marekoff, his DJ set combines his favorite musical styles, reflected in his exclusive mix for Club Events. 2010 starts with four gigs at the party series "tilllate production: à Paris", taking place in Viper Rooms and Mascara (Sofia), Planet (Plovdiv) and Comics (Varna).
